IB tutor online — AI tutoring for the Diploma HL, SL, TOK, EE and the IAs.

IB tutoring runs $40–$90/hour, and one weekly hour barely touches a six-subject Diploma plus the core. Skoolskill is your AI IB tutor — daily 15-minute practice on your phone, marked against the actual IB assessment criteria, from DP1 to your final May or November exams.

What an IB tutor actually needs to do

The IB Diploma is not one course — it’s six subjects at HL or SL, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, all running in parallel for two years. A weekly hour of private tutoring can cover maybe one subject shallowly. What the Diploma actually demands is steady daily work across all six, marked against IB command terms and markbands so you know where you’re losing points before the examiner does.

That’s what Skoolskill is built for: an AI IB tutor on your phone that turns your own notes and past papers into 15-minute daily practice, scored the way the IB scores.

How the IB plan works

StageFocus
DP1 (term 1–2)Foundational drilling per subject, learning command terms, building the habit
DP1 (term 3)Internal Assessment planning — Maths IA, science labs, essay investigations
DP2 (term 1)Past-paper sections by topic, EE drafting, TOK knowledge questions
DP2 (term 2)Whole past papers, timed Paper 1/2/3, mock practice
Final weeksFull mocks under exam conditions, error log, light review and sleep

A student doing 15 minutes a day per priority subject from DP1 builds hundreds of hours of marked practice by the May or November session — far more than two years of weekly tutoring delivers.

The Diploma is scored out of 45

Six subjects at 7 points each gives 42, plus up to 3 points from the TOK-and-EE matrix. Most universities want 30–38; the most selective want 40+ with specific HL grades. The gap between a 5 and a 6 in an HL subject is usually built from consistent past-paper practice on the question types you keep getting wrong — exactly what daily drilling fixes.

Mathematics: AA vs AI, HL and SL

The IB now splits maths into Analysis & Approaches (proof-heavy, for STEM and economics paths) and Applications & Interpretation (modelling and statistics). Skoolskill knows which route you’re on and which calculator paper you sit, and drills the specific question styles — non-calculator technique for AA, GDC-driven modelling for AI.

When a human IB tutor still matters

Many IB students combine both: a human tutor occasionally for the hardest subject, Skoolskill daily for marked practice across all six.

Questions teachers and parents actually ask.

Does it cover HL and SL for all six subject groups?

Yes. Languages (Group 1 & 2), Individuals & Societies (History, Economics, Psychology, Business Management, Geography), Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, ESS), Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, both HL and SL), and the Arts. The AI adjusts the depth and command terms to HL versus SL.

Can it help with the Internal Assessments?

It coaches the IA process — structuring a Maths IA, designing a Biology lab, planning a History investigation — and checks your draft against the IB criteria bands. It will not write the IA for you; that breaches IB academic-integrity rules and the AI is built to coach, not ghostwrite.

What about TOK and the Extended Essay?

It helps you build a TOK exhibition or essay around knowledge questions, and scaffolds the EE: research question, argument structure, and the criteria A–E. It quizzes you on TOK concepts and checks your reasoning, which is where most students lose easy points.

How does it mark my work?

Against IB command terms and the published markbands. For sciences and maths it follows the mark-allocation style of Paper 1/2/3; for essay subjects it scores against the assessment objectives. It explains exactly which band a response sits in and what moves it up one.

Does it know the May and November session differences?

Yes — Northern Hemisphere schools sit exams in May, Southern Hemisphere in November. Your study plan counts back from your actual session date, sequencing content, then past-paper practice, then timed mocks.

Is it good for the bilingual Diploma or Ab Initio languages?

It supports Language B and Ab Initio practice for the major IB languages, including vocabulary drilling and text-handling tasks. Speaking assessments still need a human examiner — see below.

How is this different from a private IB tutor?

A private IB tutor costs $40–$90/hour for usually one weekly session. Skoolskill is daily 15–20 minute practice for free or about $6.99/month. The IB rewards consistent work across two years and six subjects — frequency beats the weekly hour.
