SKØØLSKILL
Homework help for middle school, high school, and college

AI homework help — explanation, not answers so you actually learn it.

Most AI tools hand you a copy-pasteable answer. Skoolskill explains the concept, walks through a worked example, and gives you a similar problem to solve. Your teacher sees real understanding. You actually learn the material.

What is AI homework help?

Homework help is where AI can be its best — and its worst.

At its worst: “Hey ChatGPT, solve this math problem for me” → copy-paste answer → zero learning. Teachers increasingly spot this a mile away, and it undermines your own education.

At its best: an AI that recognizes your assignment, explains the underlying concept, gives a worked example, and asks you a similar but different question. That’s Skoolskill.

The difference: the first gives you something to hand in. The second makes you actually smarter.

Explanation vs answers — why it matters

Students who use AI homework help to generate answers they can hand in get better scores on submitted assignments — short-term. But they fail tests. They fail finals. Because they never actually learned the material.

Students who use AI to get explanations and then practice similar problems themselves score better on tests, because they actually practiced what they handed in.

That’s why Skoolskill defaults to teaching mode. If you already understand and just want to check an answer, you can ask “show solution.” But the default is: explain first, practice second.

Subjects that work with homework help

SubjectHow it works
MathStep-by-step explanations, similar problems, targeted practice
ChemistryBalanced equations, mole calculations, worked examples
PhysicsDiagram reading, formula application, unit checks
BiologyProcess explanations, connections between concepts
English / Language ArtsGrammar feedback, essay structure, thesis analysis
HistoryCause-effect reasoning, source analysis, timeline building
Foreign languagesGrammar, vocab, your own sentences get feedback
EconomicsModel explanations, graph reading, real-world application
Computer scienceCode explanation, debugging, concept clarification

For quantitative subjects, homework help works best — the AI can tell with certainty which step was wrong. For writing, it gives feedback and suggestions — you still write.

Who’s this for?

How a homework session works

  1. Open Skoolskill and tap “Scan.”
  2. Snap a photo of the worksheet, textbook problem, or assignment prompt.
  3. The AI identifies it as homework and opens the explanation flow.
  4. You see the underlying concept, a worked example, and a similar problem.
  5. You solve the similar problem. At each step, you can ask “explain more,” “give a hint,” or “show another example.”
  6. Done? Head back to your actual assignment and apply what you just learned.

Average homework session: 5–12 minutes. Shorter than texting a classmate, and you learn more.

For parents — what to expect

AI homework help is not a babysitter and it’s not a magic fix. It’s a tool that:

It is not:

Questions teachers and parents actually ask.

Does Skoolskill just give me the answer to my homework?

No. When a problem looks like an assigned homework question, the AI switches into teaching mode: it explains the underlying concept, walks through a worked example, and gives you a similar but different problem. You learn the pattern rather than copying an answer.

Can I use homework help for every subject?

Yes — math, chemistry, biology, physics, English, Spanish, French, history, economics, computer science, geography. Subject coverage grows monthly; you can request a subject in settings if yours isn't listed.

How does the AI know something is my homework?

Context: a worksheet with numbered problems, a photo of a textbook exercise, an assignment with a due date. When it detects homework, the tutor auto-switches to 'learning mode' — concept first, example, practice problem. No raw solutions.

What if my teacher notices I used AI?

That's the point — you can explain it. You practiced the concept yourself on a similar problem, so you can defend your answer and show your work. That's very different from pasting ChatGPT output, and schools are increasingly able to detect that.

Does it work for essays and language arts?

Yes, but differently. For math and sciences the AI can verify your work step-by-step. For essays and writing, it gives feedback on structure, argument quality, and style — it does not write for you. Your writing stays yours.

Can parents see what their kid is doing?

A dedicated parent dashboard is coming. For now, parents can sit with their kid during homework help — the AI explains at the student's level, so parents who don't remember the material can follow along too.

What does homework help cost?

Free to start — no credit card. Pro ($7.99/month) unlocks longer chat sessions for students in exam seasons or those who use the app intensively. The free version is plenty for a typical school year.

What grade levels does it work for?

Middle school (grades 6–8), high school (regular/honors/AP), and college freshman courses. Younger kids (K–5) benefit more from a parent sitting with them; Skoolskill isn't designed for very young learners.
