For parents and guardians

SKØØLSKILL is a study app. Students photograph or upload their own class notes, and the app turns them into quiz questions, flashcards and practice sessions. An AI tutor called Nova explains the things they get wrong. Streaks, points and quests help them keep going.

It's a study aid, not a school: it doesn't grade schoolwork or decide anything about a student's education.

SKØØLSKILL isn't offered to anyone under 13. For students aged 13 to 17, we require a parent or legal guardian to be involved, whatever the local age of digital consent is:

• When they sign up, we ask their year of birth. If they're under 18, they give us your email address.
• We email you a unique link. On that page you can confirm, or say you don't consent. Only you clicking the button counts; opening the email or the link doesn't.
• We record when you answered, together with technical details (such as the IP address) that help show the answer was given by the person the email was sent to.

If the link has expired, your child can send a new one from the app.

Your child can already use the study tools: scanning notes, quizzes, flashcards and Nova. Until you confirm, these stay switched off:

• purchases and subscriptions;
• joining or creating classes, and live class quizzes;
• leaderboards, and anything else that shows them to other users;
• invite links and marketing emails.

If you choose not to consent, the account stays limited. If you'd rather it were deleted, email us.

We collect what the app needs to work: your child's email address, nickname and year of birth, the notes they upload, their practice results and study activity, and technical data such as device and log information. We keep your email address as the parent contact on their account.

We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health or religion), and we don't use your child's data for advertising or profiling for advertising. Our privacy policy lists everything we process, why, how long we keep it and which service providers help us.

To read notes and build quizzes, we send the necessary content to our AI provider (Anthropic, through the Claude API). We have not allowed our AI providers to train their models on that content, and we don't use it to train AI models ourselves.

AI can be wrong. SKØØLSKILL helps students practise; it doesn't replace their teachers or their own course material.

SKØØLSKILL is a paid service with a monthly subscription, and extra AI usage can be bought separately. Nothing can be bought on an under-18 account until you confirm it. Prices are shown before any purchase, subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from the account settings, and EU consumer rights (including the 14-day right of withdrawal, as set out in the terms) apply.

As the parent or legal guardian of a child under 18 on SKØØLSKILL, you can at any time ask us to:

• give you access to, or a copy of, your child's data;
• correct it;
• suspend the account, or act on your withdrawal of consent;
• delete the account and its data.

Email [email protected] from the address that's registered on the account, or show us reasonable proof that you're the parent or guardian. We answer within one month. You can also complain to a data protection authority; the privacy policy explains how.
